About Us

Earthwatch is an international non-profit organization.

Since 1971, over 93,000 volunteers have joined our scientists in the field as research assistants, and between them have contributed more than 11 million hours of their time to frontline environmental research all over the world. On our projects citizens and scientists work together for the good of the planet.

Anyone is welcome to join us. The Earthwatch community continues to grow rapidly, from members of the public to corporate employees, educators and students. All bring their knowledge, passion, and experience to support our work, improve scientific understanding and inspire change at home and in the work place.

Our impact can be seen far and wide.

Earthwatch works all over the world, and whether it be protecting threatened species and fragile habitats, or researching the impacts of climate change, we work with local communities who benefit from our presence, sustaining indigenous cultures and livelihoods. Together, we all work towards our vision; a world in which we live within our means and in balance with nature.
