General Educator Fellowships
Leave the four walls of your classroom behind; embark on a unique journey sure to transform your life and energize the classroom. As a fellow you will work side by side with a scientist conducting field research. You will contribute to our understanding of the environment, have a direct impact on urgent issues, and will ultimately inspire your students and community.
Educators are exceptional team members. Not only do educators bring a heightened level of interest and inquiry to the projects, they also are able to inspire a whole new generation. We encourage educators to consider Earthwatch expeditions as intense and effective professional development opportunities. Fellowship Eligibility
All educators are eligible to apply for an Earthwatch Fellowship which covers all costs associated with the research, food and accommodations. Travel to and from the site is covered by the fellow. Upon completion of all fellowship requirements, many fellows will be awarded a partial reimbursement for travel to and from the site according to their individualized award. Fellowships are awarded through a competitive application process. When considering applications, the applicant's geographic region and the potential impact of participating on an Earthwatch expedition are taken into consideration. Criteria used to assign fellows to expeditions include fellow interests, skills and availability along with project need, and grant restrictions. We are no longer accepting applications for Summer 2008 Fellowships. The application process for Summer 2009 fellowships will resume in the Fall 2008.
