Fellowships include full funding of an Expedition Contribution.

What is the Expedition Contribution?
The Contribution supports the scientific research for each expedition. This also covers most of your food, accommodation, on-site travel (not airfare), and all the various costs of field work (permits, equipment, etc.) within the team dates.

Does my Fellowship cover travel costs?
Some fellowships may include partial travel reimbursement, and this varies based on numerous grant restrictions. We try to allocate as much funding as possible to reach as many people as we can, and this limits our ability to cover travel for all fellows. You should expect to pay a portion of, if not all, your travel costs with your own resources or by pursuing your own funding. Before accepting a fellowship, make sure that you can cover travel costs. Feel free to check out our Funding Yourself page.

Do I get to choose my expedition?
No. If you receive a fellowship, we will assign you to an expedition.
