Mississippi Fellowships

Through our partnership with the S. A. Rosenbaum Foundation, Earthwatch is pleased to offer educators in Mississippi the opportunity to participate in scientific field research. Earthwatch expeditions are one-to three-week field research projects within the U.S. and abroad. As a fellow you will work side by side with a Scientist conducting field research. You do not need any special skills or training to join an expedition; just a sense of adventure and willingness to lend a hand!

Fellowship Eligibility
All educators in Mississippi are eligible for the fellowship which covers all costs associated with the research, food and accommodations. Travel to and from the site is covered by the fellow. Upon completing all fellowship requirements, fellows will be awarded a travel reimbursement of $400.00 for travel to and from the site. 	Climate Change & Caterpillars in Costa Rica Explore the fascinating world of caterpillars to see how they protect themselves and respond to changes in their habitats.
	Sharks and Rays of Monterey Help seven species of sharks and rays recover from the devastating shark hunts of the mid 1900s.
	Wildlife of Brazil's Pantanal Help scientists collect information on the amazing diversity of wildlife that lives in this enormous wetland to protect and conserve it.

Application and Awards Process
Educator Fellowships are awarded through a competitive application process. When considering applications, the applicant's geographic region and potential impact of participating on an Earthwatch expedition are taken into consideration. Criteria used to assign fellows to expeditions include interests, skills, and availability, along with project need, and grant restrictions. Fellowship applicants will be considered for all opportunities which they are eligible; there is no need to submit multiple applications to Earthwatch. Please keep in mind that you may receive a fellowship only twice, typically from different funding sources and it cannot be in consecutive years. You are not eligible for a fellowship if you already reserved a seat on an expedition as a volunteer.

Additional Information
Applicants for these fellowships have the opportunity to join a Live From the Field expedition, if they are permitted to leave the classroom during the school year.
