The AVIVA/Earthwatch Award for Climate Change is available for scientific research relating to the issue of climate change being undertaken by a current Earthwatch Principal Investigator.

The award will be given to an applicant demonstrating

  • How the funding will enable the project to achieve new or additional research
  • How this research project relates to climate change
  • How the research undertaken will have potential conservation impact.

The award is

  • A financial award equivalent to £6,000 sterling
  • Travel and accommodation costs to participate in the presentation of the award in London in November 2007.

The funding is unrestricted and applicants are not required to submit a budget. However, the applicant must be able to explain how the funding will enable new activities to take place that would not otherwise be possible. A report on the project's outcomes must be submitted by September 2008.

Selection of the winning project will be made by Earthwatch affiliates in Australia, Europe, Japan, USA and Aviva in London.
