Vodafone Group is one of the largest mobile communications technology companies in the world, and recognizes the communication challenges raised by the diversity of Earthwatch-supported field projects, many of them in remote locations. A generous donation from Vodafone Group Foundation allowed Earthwatch to provide additional funding for communications technology that would make field research projects more effective or help communicate findings to local stakeholders. Special attention was given to principal investigators who planned innovative applications of communications technology or were able to leverage additional funds from other sources.
