Women in science have typically been under-funded, and thus under-represented, in field research sciences. In an effort to foster diversity amongst researchers and support female scientists, the Research Program at Earthwatch has begun an initiative to seek out and provide funding to interested Women in Science.
In FY07, nearly 26% of our Principal Investigators were women. Their research represented a variety of disciplines and regions, such as Dr. Dawn Scott's project South Africa's Brown Hyaenas, Jenna Madosky's project Wild Horses of the Outer Banks, and Dr. Tracie McKinney's study of Costa Rica's Monkeys.
