Earthwatch Institute is an international nonprofit organization that supports scientific field research by offering members of the public unique opportunities to work alongside leading field research scientists. The Research Program at Earthwatch supports a diversity of research projects of high scientific merit worldwide, which address critical environmental and social issues at local, national, and international levels. Scholars interested in Earthwatch support should submit a concept note describing planned research, field methods, and the need for Earthwatch volunteer field assistants. If funding for the proposed research is deemed appropriate, a detailed proposal will be invited for peer review.
In an effort to contribute to a sustainable environment and to address the world’s pressing environmental issues Earthwatch has identified four Priority Areas (PAs). Earthwatch supports projects that investigate aspects of the four PAs, which include Climate Change, Oceans, Ecosystem Services, and Cultural Heritage.
