The need for further research into issues such as species ecology, habitat management, agricultural land practices, the effects of environmental and anthropogenic factors such as climate change and natural resource use is pressing, as is the need for ever stronger legislation and protection both of protected sites and integrated ecosystems/landscapes as a whole.
