Viki initially majored in Computer Science and spent 15 years working in IT mostly working in Melbourne, with a short stint in London. Working in mainframe programming, system testing, implementation, database design, administration and operational work including on-call support, at Telstra, Accident Compensation Commission (Work Cover) and Dulux (Orica).

In 1998 Viki participated in the Forest Ecology Earthwatch project as a corporate fellow as part of Orica’s partnership with Earthwatch Australia.

Viki joined Earthwatch in July 2002 initially as a Fellowships Officer, working on administration and management of corporate partnerships and fielding corporate fellows. Viki then became Director, Program Delivery with responsibilities in management of volunteer, funded fellow and education programs with overall responsibility for project safety and risk management on Australian projects.

Viki is now Director, Business Systems, a member of the Information Technology team and remains a member of the senior management team contributing to strategic direction and planning.


Peter Houghton - Director of IT and CommunicationsPeter Houghton

Peter started his career in advertising photography and then moved into directing television commercials. He has worked in the Internet industry for the past 14 years. Peter has extensive experience in leading creative and technical teams for interactive and multimedia web production and media strategy.

Peter was a member of Film Victoria's Digital Media Fund Evaluation and Assessment Committee, 2001-2008.

Peter is a keen sailor, photographer, a member of Somers Yacht Club Sea Rescue.

He joined Earthwatch October in 2004.


Kayla Larson - Communications ManagerKayla Larson

Bachelors Degree in Public Relations [Journalism]

Kayla Larson joined Earthwatch as Communications Officer in October 2007.  Kayla is a graduate of Deakin University in Geelong. During her degree, Kayla completed various work placements in PR, events, print and television journalism and marketing.  Kayla worked in a volunteer capacity for Earthwatch prior to commencing paid employment.

Kayla has taken on responsibilty for producing publications, organising and running events and external communications.
