Climate change is one of the most critical environmental issues facing the planet today and is one of Earthwatch’s four priority research areas. Our climate change projects focus on evaluating the consequences of climate change as well as how we can adapt and manage ecosystems to safeguard livelihoods and achieve effective mitigation. These projects range from a world-first study measuring the distribution and abundance of plants and animals in the Wet Tropics of Northern Queensland to permafrost research at the Arctic’s edge where global warming is being most dramatically felt .
