Earthwatch's Green Champions Learning Journey works to consolidate the environmental learning outcomes of Earthwatch Expeditions by providing participants with prescribed education modules before and after their Earthwatch Expeditions.

Participants embark on a journey that develops their connection to the environment and empowers them to tackle sustainability issues. The experience will combine formal learning, experiential learning, group learning, facilitated discussion, personal visioning and action planning. Participants emerge as sustainability champions, equipped to act as agents of positive change in their workplace and communities.

This approach offers a stimulating experience for employees and/or stakeholders and can be carried out to provide a local or global context of real sustainable development issues.

The journey starts with short online learning modules and reflective exercises, followed by a three to four day residential program that examines local and global issues which leads to a personal action plan to be implemented upon participants return to work.

The pyramid below illustrates how the Green Champions Learning Journey works to effect community change through experiential learning and building leadership.
