Earthwatch and Brother - Partners in Conservation

In mid 2008 Brother approached Earthwatch Australia looking for ways in which the company could act upon its environmental concerns in a manner that would provide long term, tangible outcomes.  Brother recognised that Earthwatch's non-political, solutions-focussed approach delivers real solutions and helps to solve problems worldwide.  Earthwatch's experience in engaging and educating people has contributed to finding solutions for a sustainable future since 1971 and has resulted in partnerships with more than 50 corporations worldwide.

Aims of The Earthwatch and Brother Partnership:

Environmental Education

Brother employees will have the opportunity to become a Scientist for a Day by participating as research assistants on one-day Earthwatch projects. Through meeting and working with scientists and researchers employees will gain an understanding of conservation issues and the challenges of balancing environmental, economic and social priorities/pressures/outcomes/concerns.

Funding Support for Conservation Research

Brother is directly funding Australian conservation research with a particular focus on climate change and sustainable resource management.

Promoting Benefits More Widely

Brother are also contributing to the work of both Earthwatch and its research partners with in-kind support in the form of equipment donations.

Earthwatch and Brother are working together to communicate the research outcomes to their respective stakeholders and the broader community.
