Hands-on education and field research are the cornerstones of Earthwatch's activities. To that end, we provide organisations with opportunities to engage in projects with varying durations and levels of learning. Some examples include:
Short, intensive one day or weekend projects
These projects provide participants with a short but effective hands-on experience and usually become the catalyst and inspiration for much greater environmental activity both as part of the organisation and in people's personal lives. These programs are offered or can be developed near most major cities and are ideally suited to companies wishing to offer staff meaningful ways to contribute when using volunteering days.
Medium duration (4 to 5 day) projects
The benefit of the extra time provided by 4 and 5 day projects manifests itself in the depth of experience and understanding participants take away. These projects either provide a far more intensive understanding of a particular issue or the opportunity to explore research in a given area across a range of sites to provide wider context than would otherwise be possible. These projects can be either sequential or spread across several weeks to suit the needs and calendars of participants. They are also available as part of our tiered environmental learning packages described below.
Comprehensive Fellowships (1 to 2 week Earthwatch Expeditions)
With over 120 Earthwatch research expeditions to choose from worldwide, Corporate Fellowships provide staff with a unique and often life-changing experience. Whether part of a wider CSR initiative or its central pillar, companies with Earthwatch Fellowship programs enjoy improved staff retention and morale, a motivated and active team of sustainability champions, and make a credible and meaningful difference to a vast array of important scientific research programs at home and abroad.
