• Following research funded by Starbucks it was found that on coffee plantations in Costa Rica 336kg of fertilizer per hectare was required per year, saving $243 per hectare. A clear financial and environmental win-win.
• Following participation in an Earthwatch program HSBC employees in Taiwan developed an internal project that lead to a reduction in water usage of 3,877m3 and electricity usage of 103,298 kWh. That resulted in water and electricity cost savings to HSBC of US$87,000 per year.
