Ian Allison
Expedition Co-ordinator - Extn: 803

Ian AllisonHaving worked as a Specialist Consultant in the long-haul travel sector, Ian came to Earthwatch as Expedition Recruitment Officer in June 2006. His current role is that of Expedition Coordinator and as such he oversees the fielding of all European volunteers participating on Earthwatch projects worldwide, providing practical assistance and briefing them in preparation for a unique experience.

Ian's passions are travel and food (not necessarily in that order!) although he is also a keen conservationist and has worked with a number of volunteer organisations across Europe, Australia and South East Asia. In 2007 he joined the Earthwatch research expedition Dolphins of Greece, identifying the many threats faced by vulnerable Bottlenose Dolphins in the Mediterranean and will this summer participate in Marine Turtle conservation efforts in Terengganu, Malaysia.

 


Tom Berry
Expedition Recruitment Consultant - Extn: 870Tom Berry

Tom joined Earthwatch in April 2007 as an Expedition Recruitment Consultant. Like Ian, he is responsible for dealing with volunteer enquiries, recruiting volunteers, advising people when it comes to choosing between expeditions and briefing them in preparation for their in-field experience. He is your first point of contact with Earthwatch should you wish to get involved as a volunteer. He also forges and maintains relationships with other environmental organizations as well as travel and volunteer websites in order to ensure a high profile for Earthwatch.

Between completing a Masters degree in International Development and joining Earthwatch, Tom worked for the South African educational charity BEFSA, and Oxford-based African social justice group Fahamu. He has travelled and volunteered widely in Africa and has a strong interest in the history, politics and culture of the continent and how these interact with current environmental pressures.


Rachel Corlett
Expedition Recruitment Consultant - Extn: 831

Rachel CorlettRachel joined the Expedition Recruitment team in September 2007, although she has worked at Earthwatch since 2005. She provides a front line service to volunteers who wish to volunteer on an Earthwatch project. Rachel helps volunteers to find the right project for them and offers advice on project logistics. Her role also includes assisting with promoting and marketing Earthwatch projects. In 2006 she participated on the Cocoa Farming, Wildlife and Biodiversity Project in Ghana.

Rachel has a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management, and a BTEC in Tropical Habitat Management. She has worked within the conservation sector for the past ten years, both in the UK and abroad. And she has travelled extensively in Africa, South America, Australasia and parts of Europe and Asia.

She is passionate about environmental issues and helps to reduce her carbon footprint by living on a narrow boat.


Emma Sturt (Maternity Leave)
Customer Relations Officer - Extn: 866

Emma joined Earthwatch in January 2004, having previously worked in the office as a volunteer in summer 2003. She now works alongside the Expedition Recruitment (ER) team as the Supporter Officer and is responsible for several administration tasks within ER. While a volunteer, she was awarded a fellowship and joined the Earthwatch project ‘Butterflies and Bush Crickets' in South Devon. Her interests include social work and in her spare time she is studying to achieve a counselling qualification. Emma also enjoys spending time with her two sons which involves going along to lots of football, cricket tournaments and training sessions - the list is endless. Before joining Earthwatch, she worked as an administration assistant in Gloucestershire.
