Gareth joined Earthwatch in July 2004 as Director of Finance and Administration. He manages the finance, computer, personnel and administration functions of the organisation. In October 2004, his role was reviewed and he was appointed Chief Operating Officer responsible for managing all of Earthwatch's day-to-day operations.
An important part of Gareth's role is developing Earthwatch as an international organisation and ensuring its profile and results reflect the national and international impact its scientists and volunteers are making in the global environmental community.
Gareth is a Chartered Accountant and qualified with Shipley Blackburn (now AGN Shipleys), a medium-sized London firm of chartered accountants. After qualifying, he joined Deloitte, Haskins and Sells, where he worked in the audit department for five years. While there, he was involved in the audit of numerous NGOs, charities, universities and colleges. Since then, he has also worked in the secondary banking sector for companies providing factoring and trade finance facilities to small to medium-sized family businesses, and acted as a financial consultant to a number of businesses in the wholesale sector.
Dave Davies
Personnel and Facilities Manager (part time) - Extn: 812
Dave joined Earthwatch in October 2003 after a career working in senior personnel management for several major private corporations, including the Rover Group, Land Rover, British Aerospace, BMW, and Ford Motor Corporation. He is responsible for all aspects of Personnel Management including recruitment, training, welfare, health and safety and personnel policies and procedures. He is also responsible for Earthwatch's facilities, including buildings, services and office administration.
He has extensive experience in recruitment, training and development, health and safety and welfare. He also operated his own personnel consultancy firm for three years. Dave is in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week.

Emily Albers

Emily joined Earthwatch in May 2008 as a Receptionist/Administrative employee. Originally from the Netherlands, she lived two years in Stuttgart (Germany) until August 2007. Since then, she has been living in Oxford.
In the Netherlands, where Emily studied Journalism, she wrote for different newspapers and magazines for about nine years. In Germany, she worked as a Project Assistant at a translation agency.
Emily has a strong interest in different cultures, animals and outdoor activities. In her spare time she enjoys biking, hiking, travelling and writing poetry.
Besides her job at Earthwatch, Emily works for the Fair Trade Shop in Oxford city centre.
