Make a difference to the environment, at home and abroad...
Bluewater shopping centre has teamed up with Earthwatch to offer three students (aged 16, 17 or 18) from schools and colleges around Bluewater the chance to join an expedition* in one of the world's most beautiful natural areas.
Earthwatch expeditions are much more than conservation holidays - they are a hands-on, practical way you can help protect the world's endangered animals, habitats and ecosystems. You'll be helping scientists make discoveries that lead to a better understanding of our world. And have a great time while doing it!
Your experience won't end there. When you get back you will be given £200 towards setting up an environmental project in your local community. Whether it's cleaning up a local river, making a nature pond or anything else needed in your local area.
To apply, you must submit an entry form by 24th April 2009, including your answers to the following three questions:
1) What do you hope to learn from participating in an Earthwatch expedition?
2) What do you think are the top 3 environmental impacts of a shopping centre? If you were in charge for one day, what would you do to tackle them?
3) How would you spend the £200 grant to help the environment where you live?
If you are shortlisted, you will be asked to come to Bluewater on Saturday 16th May to meet our panel and have a chat about your application. By the end of the day, you will know if you are off on an adventure of a lifetime!

Terms and Conditions apply
Right of Refusal
Earthwatch Institute reserves the right to refuse bookings on its projects. Refusal is an unusual event and is normally due to an applicant's failure to meet the health and fitness requirements of a particular project or if Earthwatch is concerned about disruption of team compatibility. Earthwatch Institute will support the right of the project staff to dismiss a participant from a project once in the field should their behaviour compromise the safety, research objectives, or general performance of the team.
Registration Forms
There are a number of forms that we require you to complete in full. These must be returned to us no later than 60 days prior to the start date of your team, or in the case of late bookings, by a mutually agreed date.
Please note that if your forms are not received as detailed above, the reservation will be subject to cancellation by Earthwatch, and no replacement project will be offered.
Health Form
Please note that the health form must be completed by all volunteers and signed by your doctor or nurse. We strongly recommend that you make an appointment with your doctor as soon as your place is confirmed. All forms must be returned to us for screening no later than the date specified in your booking confirmation letter. Earthwatch is not able to accept any volunteer on a project without the satisfactory completion of all registration forms.
Please note that booking terms and conditions are subject to change without notice.
