“I chose to join the Trinidad’s Leatherback Sea Turtles project, where I spent ten days working alongside the local ‘Nature Seekers’ research team and fellow volunteers. We would spend our nights on beach patrols, waiting for egg-laying female turtles to tag and record, in order to estimate the abundance of this critically endangered species.
I have always aspired to study marine biology at university, but never knew how I wanted to use my degree. This expedition sparked my interest in conservation, and so for anyone considering taking part, go for it; it is a once in a lifetime experience you will never forget!” |
