Land Rover donates vehicle to Earthwatch research centre in Brazil

Staff at Earthwatch’s Regional Climate Centre (RCC) in Brazil are celebrating after receiving a brand new Land Rover Defender 110 this July.

The vehicle, donated by Land Rover, a long-standing partner of Earthwatch, will help staff and scientists improve the quality and safety of the field research at the RCC.

Located in the southern part of Brazil in the Rio Cachoeira Reserve, difficult road conditions mean access to the RCC is only possible with a 4x4. The vehicle will mainly be used to transport participants at the RCC involved in Earthwatch’s forest research programme which is investigating how climate change is affecting the tropical Atlantic Forest.

The new Land Rover in action

Since 2007, Land Rover employees have participated in Earthwatch’s field projects worldwide, providing employees with the opportunity to experience environmental issues first hand and bring what they have learnt back into the workplace.

In Brazil, employees from HSBC, Alcoa, Ernst & Young, Shell and Duke Energy have been helping Earthwatch scientists to establish the health of the forests.
