Payroll Giving, often referred to as Workplace Giving or Give As You Earn (GAYE), involves making regular donations to charity which are deducted from your salary. All administration is handled by your company and an HMRC-regulated payroll giving agency, so there's little work involved for you!
Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax so each £1.00 you give will only cost you 80p, and if you're a higher rate tax payer it will only cost you 60p, making Payroll Giving one of the most tax-effective ways to give to charity.
Your employer must first have a workplace giving scheme set up in order for you to participate. Inquire with your finance or human resources department. If your employer does not have a workplace giving scheme in place, encourage a senior manager to set one up and we'll all be better off!
