Research Results

Results of this project reveal an important migratory corridor that extends from Playa Grande to the Galapagos. Scientists have also used these tracks to assess the interaction of Fisheries and leatherbacks (Dermochelys coriacea) during their migration and foraging activity in the Ocean.

Through a partnership with Conservation International, TOPP Program, the Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment, and the governments of Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, and Ecuador, this project has contributed to establishing the Eastern Pacific Seascape Initiative and Protected Area, a major marine protected area.
