Teen and Family Expeditions
Teenagers today are aware of the state of our natural world and eager to get out and make a difference. Through our new teen expeditions, teenagers aged 16 and 17 can connect with leading scientists in a peer setting while learning new skills and appreciating the power that they have to change the planet. These special teen teams focus on the same research activities and have the same expectations as our regular teams, but with more supervision and support.
Teen Expeditions offer:
- Great educational opportunities and one-on-one time with scientists
- Special talks and presentations on research and career development
- College essay/CV building experiences
- Organised group activities for free time
- Additional Earthwatch staff to supervise the group and help individuals
NB. Teen and family team dates have been selected to fall within school holidays globally. Depending on your country of residence, these may not always match the official holiday periods.
Getting children involved in science at an early age helps develop critical thinking skills and an appreciation for the natural world. Earthwatch expeditions make great hands-on family learning experiences, and provide inspiration and a model for personal involvement in taking care of our planet.
Family Expeditions include:
- Half-days of hands-on science with special instruction from the scientists
- Half-day age-appropriate activities and outings to local attractions
- Additional Earthwatch staff members to facilitate the children's activities and research activities
- Time to explore your surroundings and spend time with your family
- Comfortable lodgings, with swimming pools when possible
