Fund the Capacity Building Programme

Be part of the solution - help train the next generation of conservation scientists in developing countries to find sustainable solutions to environmental problems around the world.

Since 1995 the Capacity Building Programme has gone from strength to strength. To date it has trained over 1000 individuals, from 25 countries in vital conservation research methods. Together, these individuals have contributed an incredible 100,000 hours to conservation research, on over 35 separate projects. Watch the video below to find out more.

From a handful of places in 1995, we now offer over 200 positions a year to individuals who need training in a certain aspect of conservation. Working with our partners we are making a significant contribution to finding better ways to sustainably manage our environment. The programme also answers the need for increasing capacity for conservation organisations set out in a number of international conventions and treaties.

None of this vital training would take place without the generous support of our funders.

"It is a fact that Earthwatch - through its fieldwork in Africa - has helped to substantially raise the awareness of many of us to the importance of conservation. If more people get imparted with conservation knowledge, environmental degradation will in the future remain as history."
