Fund the Educator Programme

Earthwatch's Educator Programme helps to bring education alive inside the classroom and inspire the next generation of environmental ambassadors.

Companies supporting this programme are funding professional development opportunities for secondary stage educators throughout Europe. By providing these opportunities, Earthwatch addresses a key need identified in UNESCO's Decade of Education for Sustainable Development: engaging all possible spaces for learning and fostering an increased quality of teaching for sustainable development.

The programme therefore serves to build educators capacity as individuals, their organisations and communities, and most importantly strengthen their ability to disseminate environmental messages to their audiences whether children or adults.

Since 1991 more than 1000 educators from all over Europe have benefited from this programme.

Learning Resources

"The expeditions not only recharge my 'teaching battery' from year to year, but they also give me a series of experiences that I enthusiastically share with my students each year. Never do I have a more attentive classroom than when I'm sharing my Earthwatch slides. The enthusiasm for science (and the environment) has proven contagious."

Casey McCullough, Teacher, who went on Conserving the Pantanal expedition
