Stakeholder Involvement

Earthwatch works with corporate partners to respond to the challenge of sustainable development and embed environmental awareness at all levels of the organisation.

Our work with companies is built upon the following competencies:

  • Experience - for more than 15 years, Earthwatch has helped companies deliver on their commitments to environmental performance, achieving results that are both good for business and for the environment.
  • Team Work - Earthwatch is a non-campaigning organisation, so we do not pressure companies from the outside. We work on the inside as a stakeholder, often as an extension of a company's team.
  • Trust - Earthwatch works as a trusted partner, engaging candidly with senior management in ways that advance company environmental performance plans.

The Corporate Environmental Responsibility Group (CERG)

CERG provides a cross-sectoral forum for exchanging ideas and raising awareness about and engaging companies in sustainability issues. All our partners are part of CERG and engage in a range of partnership opportunities, as well as the following:

A Learning Forum
Through the group we offer seminars and workshops. At these events Environment, Corporate Responsibility and Human Resources professionals come together to share ideas on new developments and best practice.

Performance Reviews
Earthwatch provides detailed feedback to CERG members on their environmental reports or similar in the role of an informed environmental stakeholder. We aim to highlight areas of good practice, identify commitments to corporate responsibility, and challenge companies on aspects where future improvements in both performance and reporting can be made.

Access to Science Community

Earthwatch has access to a network of over 2500 scientists from around the world and as such are in the unique position of providing a bridge between science and industry in business and biodiversity.

News Updates

Earthwatch's monthly news updates is specifically focused on business and biodiversity, and captures examples of Earthwatch research as well as regular updates on initiatives such as the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Business can make meaningful contribution to biodiverstiy conservation.

"In many ways, the most important achievement of the past decade of collaboration between Earthwatch and Rio Tinto is that the Global Partnership has legitimised the notion that business can make a meaningful contribution to biodiversity conservation."
