Current Funders
Each year Earthwatch works with a number of corporations, trusts and foundations who provide sponsorship for our Educator Programme.
The Educator Programme in 2009 has been fully sponsored by ICAP:
ICAP, the world's premier interdealer broker, gives away its total revenues and brokers' commissions to charity as part of its annual Charity Day, and this year Earthwatch was among the many organisations to benefit from the company's generosity. The charity day raised a staggering £11 milllion, and the donation to Earthwatch will support the 2009 Teacher Fellowship Programme. Read more for details about the Charity Day.
The following trusts and organisations sponsored the programme in 2008:
The Garfield Weston Foundation
The Garfield Weston Foundation sponsored places for ten UK secondary science and geography teachers in 2008. These places were split between our Whales and Dolphins of the Moray Firth, Whales and Dolphins of the Hebrides and Icelandic Glaciers projects. This was the second year Earthwatch has received support from the foundation.
HSBC Green Sale
Generous donations to the Earthwatch Educator Programme from HSBC's Green Sale enabled 16 secondary science and geography teachers and teacher facilitators to join the following Earthwatch projects this year: Whales and Dolphins of the Moray Firth, Whales and Dolphins of the Hebrides, Greek Dolphins and Icelandic Glaciers.
The D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust
The D'Oyly Carte Charitable Trust provided Earthwatch for a third year with funding for secondary science and geography teachers to join a UK-based, marine-science project. In 2008 two teachers joined the Whales and Dolphins of the Hebrides project.
