Case Studies from Earthwatch Projects

The following case studies have been developed into learning resources to link into a range of subjects and units across AS and A2 Levels, Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

Each learning resource is based on real-life research carried out by Earthwatch scientists into a range of topics. The case studies outline the background to the research, the research aims, scientific methods, example datasets with statistics exercises and how the data is used to achieve conservation goals.

Madagascar's LemursAnimal Behaviour: Determining the effects of habitat disturbance on feeding and reproductive behaviour.

Ecuador's Cloud Forest BirdsSpecies Diversity and Adaptation: How habitat fragmentation affects bird communities.

Lions of TsavoGeographical variation: Managing human wildlife conflict.

Hebridean Whales of DolphinsMarine Biology: Monitoring marine mammals for effective conservation.

Moose and WolvesPopulation Dynamics: Predator prey relationships.
