Programme Administrator

Do you have proven administrative skills and a passion for environmental research? If so, you could be part of an international charity that’s achieving great things: Earthwatch.

Programme Administrator – Part-Time (28 hours per week)
Fixed Term Contract for 12 months
Grade B: £21,597 pro-rata, per annum
Oxford, UK

About us
Earthwatch is committed to conserving the diversity and integrity of life on earth. Our mission is to engage people worldwide in scientific field research and education, in order to promote the understanding and action necessary for a sustainable environment. As part of our team, you can help us take a big step forward.

About the role
Earthwatch runs a variety of exciting research projects in a range of other countries. For these programmes to produce the best results, it’s essential that those involved are well prepared. As Programme Administrator, you will make sure that’s the case.

Your main task is to build relationships with programme participants, supporting them as they sign up and prepare for a project over several weeks or months. You will manage people’s expectations; answer any questions; and set the scene for high quality field research, which has the power to increase our knowledge, inform policy and produce positive environmental results. The administrative processes involved will require meticulous attention to detail, while various programme-related databases, websites and social networking pages will need to be updated regularly.

This particular role will concentrate on programmes in the Middle East, as well as one other globally-focused programme.

About you
Your efforts will be crucial to the delivery of environmental learning programmes at Earthwatch. It’s therefore vital that you are highly organised, with an eye for detail and strong interpersonal skills. A skilled administrator, you can juggle a diverse range of tasks; meet deadlines; and work as part of an international team (with colleagues often spending long periods of time abroad). Teamwork will be critical and you must be adept at collaborating with people from different departments, functions and organisations.

We will also be looking for a proven track record in customer relationship management. But above all, you must have a passion for environmental research and education, which will inspire our programme participants.
