Please read this announcement if you are thinking of applying for an Earthwatch research grant.
Earthwatch provides financial and volunteer support for field research projects that match the initiatives in our Research Areas (RAs) (PRAs). All projects are based on high quality science; maximise community engagement, education potential and capacity building; and engage local partner organisations.
Earthwatch makes grants of over £2.5 million in support of around 120 projects each year. This is achieved by recruiting volunteers from the general public and partner organisations to share the costs of a research project, and join it as research assistants.
Projects can include anything from tracking Madagascar's fossa to finding the best ways to manage British farmland habitats for adaptation to climate change.
Including more about why and how we support research, some achievements over the years, and what our scientists say about us.
