Earthwatch volunteers on Dolphins of the Ionian Sea expressed their artistic streak last month when they participated in 'body painting' with local children as part an educational activity day to raise public awareness, organised by researchers from the Tethys Research Institute in the village of Paleros, Greece.

Julie Mackay - from the Earthwatch Europe office - has just returned from joining an all-teacher team on the Earthwatch project 'Britains Basking Sharks', off the western coast of Scotland. By the end of the five day team teachers had devised and gathered lots of ideas for classroom activities and lesson plans.

This month sees the first all-science teacher team on an Earthwatch project. Teachers from across the UK will join the Earthwatch project Britain's Basking Sharks. In addition, educational publisher Reed Elsevier has sponsored their first volunteer team.

In another first for the African Fellowship Programme, a group of 10 Ghanaian students from the Institute of Renewable Energy Resources and the Kwame Kkrumah University of Science and Technology will take part in ‘Cocoa Farming and Biodiversity in Ghana' later this month.
