Take action this springDo you fancy getting on your bike for Earthwatch, doing a sponsored walk, run, or maybe even an adventurous bungee jump? There are plenty of ways you can help us, so if the arrival of spring has boosted your energy levels, read this month's top ten tips on how you can take action, raise money and spread the word about Earthwatch. And remember, we'd love to hear about your wild and whacky fundraising, so don't forget to send in your news and photos!
- Get involved in a fundraising event, or charity challenge, to drum up money for Earthwatch. You could be cycling from London to Brighton, running a marathon or hiking up a mountain! See some more ideas for fundraising and keep an eye on this link for our new fundraising guide, coming soon.
- Organise your own fundraising event with friends, family or work colleagues. It might be a ‘strictly come dancing' competition, sponsored swim, walk, or sing-song.
- If you're feeling game for a laugh, why not go it alone and raise money by getting your friends to sponsor you to shave off your beard, cut your hair short, or give up chocolate/cigarettes for a month. Choose a fun challenge to suit you.
- Websites such as www.justgiving.com can help you to manage the fundraising process online - just search for Earthwatch on the home page.
- Make a donation to Earthwatch, or ask your friends and family to consider making one.
- Spread the word about Earthwatch. If you are returning from an expedition, make a presentation about your experience to work colleagues or friends. If you like, we can send you an Earthwatch presentation template on CD so you can easily add your own photos and narrative.
- Write about your expedition experience for your local newspaper, or for a newsletter or travel magazine. Don't forget to mention our contact and website details.
- Encourage your friends to visit our brand new website and sign up for our e-newsletter.
- Bring your friends, family and work colleagues along to our events and open days.
- Good luck with your fundraising and please send in your photos to e-news to encourage others to take action.
