Aviva is the world's fifth-largest insurance group and the biggest in the UK, with 57,000 employees serving around 45 million customers worldwide. They are one of the leading providers of life and pension products in Europe and are actively growing their long-term savings businesses in Asia Pacific and the USA.
Aviva has been supporting Earthwatch since 1997. It believes that Earthwatch represents a very worthwhile environmental initiative with an innovative approach to scientific research. Aviva is pleased to lend its support to Earthwatch and believe that it can offer much in return.
Climate change is a very important issue to both Earthwatch and Aviva, and because of this, Earthwatch and Aviva have expanded on their existing partnership through a new five year commitment to climate change research and community investment.
The specific research focus of this new phase in the partnership will be mangrove forests and their potential to make a significant contribution to carbon sequestration efforts, whilst at the same time providing important ecosystem and community services.
