For Educators

Earthwatch's Educator Programme funds a professional development opportunity for educators in the UK and Europe.  By providing these opportunities, Earthwatch addresses a key need identified in UNESCO's Decade of Education for Sustainable Development:  engaging all possible spaces for learning and fostering an increased quality of teaching for sustainable development.  The programme therefore serves to build educators' capacity as individuals, their organisations and communities, and most importantly strengthen their ability to disseminate environmental messages to their audiences whether children or adults.

Earthwatch's Youth Programme funds opportunities for young people in the UK, often from disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in specially tailored experiential learning in the field and in some cases office based work experience. By providing these opportunities, Earthwatch seeks to engage and educate young people in environmental stewardship and offer them the opportunity to become involved with conservation volunteering.  The programme therefore aims to build the confidence, life skills and knowledge of young people and influence their choices and behaviour, empowering them to make a difference. It also aims to instil in them a lifelong interest in environmental conservation; building links with their local community and helping them access better employment opportunities.
