Saudi Aramco

Saudi Aramco became an Earthwatch Corporate Supporter in 2009 and is funding a programme aimed at engaging young people in the UK and Saudi Arabia in the environment.

In 2010 "Inspiring the Next Generation" programme allowed 12 teenagers to join two Earthwatch research projects in Kenya and Scotland. By giving these young people the opportunity to work alongside expert scientists, contribute valuable data and learn about environmental issues, the programme hopes to inspire the next generation to take a life- long interest in the environment.  In 2011 Saudi Aramco are continuing support the "Inspiring the Next Generation" on Earthwatch Expeditions  Costa Rican Coffee From Community to Cup and South Africa's Scavenger Species.

The Inspiring the Next Generation programme aims to:

  • Provide young people from Saudi Arabia and UK with the opportunity to join Earthwatch environmental research projects
  • Foster cross-cultural understanding among young people from Saudi Arabia and the UK
  • Support critical environmental research
