The Samburu area is home to a range of mammals large and small, including the tiny but beautiful antelope known as a dik dik (Madoqua kirkii). This juvenile individual was found hiding in the undergrowth in one of the quadrats. There are no fences to separate wildlife from the community, and competition for critical resources - such as food and water - contributes to a greater dispersal of wildlife in Samburu.
