Earthwatch Institute gratefully acknowledges the support of its
volunteers, donors, and Boards of Directors and Trustees
In accordance with our mission, Earthwatch carefully employed sustainable printing practices and vendors for the limited print run of our new 2007 Annual Report. While we encourage people to view the PDF of the Report online to minimize the environmental impact, printing was done in accordance with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) guidelines. In addition, vegetable-based inks were used and the paper is chlorine-free, FSC-certified Mohawk Options 100% PC White, which is made with 100% post-consumer recycled fiber using windpower. Mohawk Fine Papers purchases enough green-e certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) to match 100% of the electricity used in their operations. This paper is also certified by Green Seal.
For other statistics on the paper supplied by Mohawk, please see below for the calculated environmental savings on this particular piece:
149.18 trees preserved for the future
430.78 lbs waterborne waste not created
63,370 gallons wastewater flow saved

105,672,000 BTUs energy not consumed
7,173 lbs air emissions not generated*
