Earthwatch Institute

Dear Earthwatcher,

Welcome to the first "Spring edition" of the e-news for 2010. For Earthwatch, spring signals the start of our most intense fielding season, when most expeditions are running and most volunteers join Earthwatch scientists in their research and conservation work.

Earthwatch volunteers are true "citizen scientists," and their efforts are at the core of a grassroots movement that cuts through the politics, the inertia, and even the hype often surrounding environmental issues to offer and implement real solutions - in years rather than decades - to the challenges of our time.

As you'll see in a story below, on April 13 we'll celebrate this work at a special event in New York City, "Earthwatch 24: an evening of science around the world." Tickets are available online now. If you're unable to attend in person, please consider becoming a sponsor or making a tax-deductible donation in support of Earthwatch's citizen science efforts. Thank you for being part of the Earthwatch movement.

Warm regards,

Ed Wilson,
President and CEO
