Awards cover the students' travel costs and their living expenses at the research site. Earthwatch Institute assigns award recipients to expeditions based on: availability; disciplinary interests; travel enrichment; the physical demands of a project; team composition and compatibility; and the special interests of Principal Investigators. Nominators should keep in mind that this program does not aim to support the career development of future scientists, and we may not emphasize a student's specific disciplinary interests when making project assignments.
