How are Earthwatch Teen Expeditions different?
An experience like no other
Join an Earthwatch teen expedition and you’ll work alongside experienced scientists at the cutting edge of conservation research, gaining first-hand knowledge of and trying to find real and achievable solutions to some of today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
You’ll connect with other young people who share your passion and energy for conservation, immerse yourself in new cultures, see some of the world’s most spectacular places and help to conserve them.

In good hands
With nearly 40 years experience of working with volunteers in the field, Earthwatch is committed to caring for the safety and welfare of all our participants, staff and project partners. We provide in-depth information to all participants in Expedition Briefings before fielding, and thorough training and orientation once in the field and throughout the expedition.
Facilitators on each and every teen expedition
As part of our commitment to providing both meaningful and safe experiences for young people, Earthwatch ensures that trained and experienced facilitators offer additional supervision and guidance for each Teen Expedition, from the rendezvous to the very end of the expedition.
Facilitators are the key to building good team dynamics, ensuring a solid platform for learning and personal development, and offer supervised recreational and cultural activities that support a better understanding of the research.
Available throughout the expedition to troubleshoot any concerns volunteers may have, all Earthwatch Facilitators have experience teaching and leading teen groups. Teen Expeditions usually also feature volunteer tasks slightly altered or adapted to suit teen groups.
